Spyrer Bits
Well,My Van saar Gang is soon to be retired ...much to the relief of everyone else...especially garrets leader.
And Thus I need and even Cheesier army to go with, i was thinking Spyrer...but a problem has shown itself....i dont have any Eldar Bits, or marine bits.
Thus, this saturday can anyone who is willing bring some bits for me to buy/trade....i really need Eldara dn marine bits, also some power fists (if possible from alternating arms) and also any Battle Fleet Gothic turrets to use as arm weapons for my Orros's.
I have a truckload of Cadian Bits, and Vehicle Accessories....i might even trade a fully built and painted Chimera, plus accessory bits, and for very few bits in return....I'm just really desperate to get some good looking Spyrer's up and running.
Cheers,
         Jack.Â
Just a thought
Whilst pete's spyrers do look cool, you sould almost as if that is the only way to build them.
Specifically, you'd find plenty of substitutes for BFG parts, just think outside the square.
Ok, so eldar parts are hard to substitue, but a lot of the specifics you'll find lying around.
And if you thought it was hard to get a game wiht your Van Saars, I wouldn't try spyrers. After about 3 games no one will want to play with you. Ok, exagerated a bit, but if you're changing because people won't play you, spyerers are *not* the sollution. Pete will testify!
It's a pitty that Van Saar are probably the easiest to get-too-good-with 'regular' gang. Having tech as your main skill list is a little broken (and besides, you end up with so many psecial weapons that your gang is hardly re-usable). May I suggest trying some other 'regular' gang. Catachans make easy orlocks.
I used empire militia mixed with catachans to make cawdors. Delaques need a fair amount of green stuff skill, or just a bunch of cloaks (milita sprue or outriders). Goliath are easily converted out of marauders (owen has one). Escher are only the really hard regular gang to make, on account of their femininity.
No love for Spyrers
Spyrers aren't that bad.... bah, who am I kidding. Spyrers get no love from anybody. :) Even Ratskins with their charming 'lol you fell in a swamp and died hahaha' table don't seem to be able to inspire quite the same level of loathing. Maybe I just keep getting freakishly good upgrade rolls or something...
Drew's right about Van Saar being one of the most powerful basic gangs, but you can self-regulate them a bit by not taking boatloads of Techno skills on everybody (especially the juves). If you take mainly Shooting and Combat with some Techno on the side, they shouldn't get that over-the-top - you can sometimes fail Ammo rolls, gangers actually have basic weapons and you don't have a sweatshop of 10 Inventors churning out free stuff every game. :) The trial rules for updated skill tables (on the Necro site) also tone down Techno (and hence Van Saar) a bit, which helps, but obviously only if you're using them.
Getting back to the original topic, I can bring a couple of spare Guardians on Saturday, if you like, but I'm out of spare BFG turrets and Marine bits. You'd need to find some other parts to really make anything useful, unfortunately.
actually...it isnt hard at
actually...it isnt hard at all to get a game with my Van saar....and i feel no pity for anyone facing my 4 medics,3 inventors and 5 specialists!!!
lol, i'm changing becuase spyrers interest me, in 40k i play horde armies, i;ve never really experienced the small hardcore army, so this is my chance, and i like spyrers.
But please, bring any bits u got on sat and you will earn much respect from me, and maybe cash/other bits.
